Online Workshop on
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY & BIOSTATISTICS
The Department of Epidemiology of this University is conducting a 3 day Online workshop on ‘ Research Methodology and Bio-statistics’ for M.D. / M.S. / D.M. / M.Ch. / M.D.S / Ph.D Candidates and faculties for the academic year 2022-2023.
Objectives and Structure
The primary aim of organising this workshop is to equip the post-graduate students of Medical / Dental Colleges of Tamil Nadu to conduct a good relevant research as their postgraduate dissertation and publish. The workshop is designed as a three days on-line programme, to instill ideas on research methodology and also to assist the interested participants to provide mentorship for the dissertation and to pursue their works further to publish. The core learning objective of the workshop is to equip the participants with a set of skills to identify the right topic (based on relevance & feasibility), choose the appropriate research design, sample, and statistical analysis and to interpret the findings for the ultimate dissemination of their study effectively. Thus the workshop is designed to offer the most practical guidelines and to direct the researchers in all the stages of research from identifying a research problem to the submission of a dissertation and writing a manuscript and to finally publish the article. By the end of the programme they are expected to develop conceptual clarity and practical knowledge to undertake or at least interpret ‘quality research’ to enable them to gain confidence in understanding good research papers, field-reports and project proposals etc. The workshop will be delivered in a blended mode by lectures, group discussions and hands-on training with open-source software tools which would help in Searching and organizing literature and determine sample size .
The participants will be provided with an in-depth practical introduction to the fundamental knowledge of healthcare research. Essential aspects of biostatistical methods will be covered, including fundamental principles of data analysis.
Lectures, group discussions, and practical demonstrations by the faculty will be conducted.
The participants will be receiving a certificate, Handbook on ‘Research Methods and Biostatistics’ and CD containing the presentations Ppt after successful completion of the course.
Registration
Registration for each of the workshop is limited to 200 participants on a first come first served basis.
All Medical Post Graduates to check with their college if they have already paid the RMBS workshop fees along with college fees at the time of admission. Necessary copy of the same to be uploaded in the RMBS application form. University will not be responsible for the double payment, if made by the candidate.

Participation in this workshop will be awarded with THIRTY CREDIT POINTSS of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University if the candidate attends all the sessions, presents the Research Topic, completes Pre-test, Post-test, Multiple choice question on each of the sessions and provides daily feedback on all three days.
